MARCH FOR LIFE

MARCH FOR LIFE

My story

As a teenager of the tumultuous seventies, I was taught abortion was a woman’s right – no questions asked. After all ‘it’ was just a blob of tissue. For another decade, although I would never consider an abortion, I certainly thought it was a choice that women should have. Choice to do what? Murder your own child via the most heinous of tortures? The womb which should be the safest, most sacred place for the baby now becomes a chamber of terror? Only God can create life. It is a gift. Life is an intrinsic and most fundamental of rights. I became passionate about fighting for the silent unborn. I donated money to pro-life groups, prayed in front of abortion clinics, wrote letters to the editor, attended the March for Life in DC-what else could I do? I prayed for those women with child who were considering abortion and for those women who had aborted their babies and were suffering wounds to their heart and soul. Then 9 years ago, God put it on my heart to write a book. Me? Write a book? I had never written a book. I like to write, but do not consider myself to be a ‘writer’ per se. I asked myself what the response would be when asking people about the issue of abortion. The response I heard from a majority of people was that they felt it was wrong except in cases of rape, danger to the mother’s life to give birth, and severe birth defects of the baby. My novel, I Knew You, is about one of these circumstances. The story concerns an incestuous rape of thirteen year old girl who finds herself with child. I said to God, “If you want me to write this book, I need a story. I need your help.” Within a matter of minutes, the outline flooded into my mind. I grabbed some index cards and jotted down a rough outline of the story. After 9 years, I self-published the book through Covenant Books, a Christian publisher. I work as a vascular sonographer, am not wealthy, but went ahead to publish the book, costing several thousand dollars. My desire is not financial gain, but to spread the word of the truth about abortion in hopes to convert abortion supporters to our side of LIFE. Proceeds of the book will be donated to various pro-life organizations. This is my vision. The book is available through Amazon and Barnes &Nobles.
